The jury in the Larkhall explosion prosecution against Transco concluded their 11 hour deliberations unanimously convicting the company of failing to ensure public safety between 24th August 1986 and 22nd December 1999 resulting in the explosion on 22nd December 1999 which killed Andrew Finaly, his wife Janette and their children Stacey, 13 and Daryl 11
Lord Carloway one of Scotland's leading judges condemned the company for attempting toavoid responsibility and imposed the record fine adding that "The corporate mindset of Transco has shown little or no remorse for the explosion"
