Over 100 Scots workers maimed in woodworking accidents
16/02/06

In the year 2004/05, there were over 100 major and over-3-day injuries, including one fatality in Scotland's woodworking premises, and as part of an initiative to reduce these figures, HSE has organised one of a number of free Safety and Health Awareness Days for the industry this week in Falkirk.
Over 240 representatives of small woodworking businesses from across Scotland are meeting at Forth Valley College to hear presentations, discussions and interactive practical demonstrations of scenarios that regularly feature in accident reports which will make up the programme.
The rolling programme of such events in Scotland will eventually involve the participation of around 800 small businesses.
